Reveal day #1 - Bead Soup Blog Party

It is reveal day #1 for the sixth edition of the Bead Soup Blog Party hosted by the fabulous Lori Anderson! If you are new to the BSBP you can read about it here.

This is what I recieved from my partner Shelley Graham Turner. I love that focal and even though I usually don't work that often with oranges it all fell right in place when I started working with my soup.

And this is what it became:

I wanted to keep it earthy and used brown waxed linnen and a mix of some 8/0 seed beads braided in there together with the faceted polymer rounds Shelley sent me to create a simple necklace to show of the lovely focal. It is all finished up with the handmade clasp in polymer clay and copper from the soup. 

I have not used all the beads Shelley sent me but I have some ideas what to do with them and I will post pictures here when finished.

Name necklaces...

I got a commission order for a fathers day necklace, the children's names on one tag and the parent's initials on the other. 

Earlier I made this pendant for my mother with the grandchildren's names.

And for myself on a lace ribbon with a glass bead.

My first vintaj findings...

I have just tried my first vintaj pieces. Bought some chain, blanks and other findings to make a simple necklace with my two daughters' names. I love the quality of the findings so this will NOT be the last vintaj for me. I have planed to put a bead dangle no the necklace as well but geted not decided no what kind yet. And please excuse the bad photo taken with my phone.

Bead Soup Blog Party - The Reveal Blog Hop Day

It is time for the Bead Soup reveal! 

The Bead Soup Blog Party is hosted by the fabulous Lori Anderson

 This is the beads I received from my swap-partner Cheryl Roe. The lovely handmade lampwork beads made me a bit intimidated, would I be able to make them justice? The rules of the Bead Soup Blog Party swap says that the focal and the clasp must be used but I really wanted to use as much as possible of the beads Cheryl sent me. I had a hard time getting started on my design but when I did get started it all come together quite nicely. Since I just bought some new tools I wanted to incorporate some wire work in to my bead soup. I also wanted the lampwork beads to play the big role so I didn't ad that many other beads just a few milky firepolished beads and a amazonite dagger. I didn't find a incorporate the big copper bicone beads and spacers Cheryl sent me but I am very happy with the pieces I ended up with and I am going to keep them for myself. I do have some plans for the left over beads but I didn't have the time to work on that before the reveal day - which is today!
